I have been trying to get outlook to do something and have messed with the config so much that I have screwed it up. Uninstalling and reinstalling it has not helped. I don't want to format because there is another software on the PC that took forever to configure. I have three inboxes. How do I get it down to one? When I go to Tools/Accounts it has only one email account. But when I go to Data Files there are three of them and it won't let me delete any of them. Also, what is a data file exactly? Thank you for any help you can give me. Even suggestions of what to try would be helpfule

The Data file is a generic way of describing where all of outlook's data is stored. In the case of a simple, standalone system (without Exchange), this is a .pst file. Is there an Exchange server involved, or is this a standalone system? If you search your local hard drive (including hidden files) for *.pst, what do you find? Sometimes, multiple listings like this which can't be deleted indicate a corrupt outlook profile.

I just created a new account in active directory and then set up outlook under that account. Thank you very much for your help!

You can also just right click on a set of Personal Folders and choose CLOSE...

You could also just create a new Outlook profile.

A new Active Directory account was WAY overkill.
