When I log into my Linksys router and go to the status page. The IP Address it show is the ip address of my Modem. The DNS server it shows is my modem. The internet works fine.

What did stop working is my VPN connection. I called Comcast and they claim the modem is a pass through modem, all the firewalls have been dropped. Anyone have any ideas what would cause the modem IP to show up instead of my Public IP?

I am running Windows Server 2003 which is configured properly. The VPN won't connect. All the necessary ports have been opened up

I can get a VPn connection using the dhcp provided address on the inside interface of my router. Try running a port scan on your computer to see what is open (I know you said they were open, but it is worth a check on both your computer and on the router).

This is normal behavior. As far as the router is concerned, the IP address of the modem is it's access point to the internet. The DNS would also be the modem address because the modem acquires the external DNS servers from your ISP.

What error messages are you getting on VPN connection attempts?

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.
