Our system is IBM mainframe z/OS, we have lots of JCL. Our data control operators are retiring and so management seeks to automate as much of our Job execution as possible. They are leaning towards the internal text-menuing CA-7 utility.
imo no matter how proven and effective it is, like ISPF/TSO, it's a hopelessly dated clunker sporting an interface straight from an amber-screened Purgatory.
Is there any open-source scripting way to schedule execution of JCL from a MS-Windows-based initiation point?
Say an operator double-clicks on a desktop icon and (eventually) JES is SUBmitted in MVS.
(We can ftp files back and forth just fine, could something be done using a plain old .BAT file?)
