This is a two part question. I have written reports in the past for clients to get failed instances off large SI systems. I am re-writing one of them with using the Hierarchical grouping function (which makes this sooooo much easier). I am creating my groups on the CIID and PARENTID in the ci_infoobjects table to get my folder structure, and then linking the runtimeimage for the report info.

First part: As soon as I use the select expert to return only failed instances, the hierachy breaks and I only get the report object name for the instance from the runtimeimage table; it drops the folder structure from the infoobjects table. Is this a normal behavior for the hierarchical grouping function?

Second part: I used to have a cheat-sheet of code values for the ci_infoobjects.ci_type and runtimeimage.ci_uistatus codes. Anyone have that info; I can't find mine now?

*This has also been posted in the "Crystal Reports 4 Other Topics" forum, for the benefit of those who get around a lot.

Thanks.

hammerman.com has a powerpoint show that shows the proper linkage of the tables needed for this.. This is what I use and it has answered every question that I have had..
He has updated his site, so the link I did have no longer works, I'm sure it's around there, somewhere.

Hope this helps.. Brian
