Ok I got a corrupted hdd sent to me, I ran scandisk and fixed all the file names that were in directory in acending order e.g DIR00001, DIR00002 upto DIR00067 but the directories stayed like that and the file names were fixed, I can't figure out a way to get the directory structure fixed up, and ideas????

Thanks

With corruption like this your best bet is a reinstall after cleaning everything off. You can create directories of the correct name and move the files there, but you may find more corruption after the move or subdirectories misnamed.

Yeah, with 67 directories you'd spend quite a bit of time trying to rename each one. Plus, you would have to have some kind of backup or image that you could look and compare the directory structure.

Since you probably don't have that, I'd have to agree with edfair.
