I know this is a HDD forum, but I didn't know where else to go.. I got this ancient Gateway Pentium 486 that i'm just messin around with. The machine was working fine until I, being the typical bored techie, opened the case and stated playing. Well, I was going to add some more memory to it (it has the 72 pin mem) and once I removed the origanal memory and replaced it with a higher meg of ram sticks it won't boot!! I even replaced the origanal memory and still won't boot. I get a beep code of (i believe)One Long:three short:three short. It has three slots for memory and I don't remember if these need to be particular order...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You may have inadvertantly loosened a cable. You might check the power connector to the hard drive to make sure it is snug.

That beep code is video...check that you didn't unhook/bump anything else...you may have to plug in the monitor or you'll get that error... Cheers,
Jim
