OK some i have SM 6.1 cm 5.2.1 , all i want to do is log a third party sip soft phone into SM and show it as registered , i have tried xlite created my user in SM all the usuall jazz but just cant get it to register , I am not assigning it in CM to act as a feature servert i dont think 5.2.1 will anyway ... has anybody completed this as it seems to be so simple but the damm thing just wont register .... even had wire shark on the case as traceSM does not even show a registration attempt.

BUMP BUMP BUMP .... going to try again in the morning maybe just having a senior moment but this is the first time I have nearly volleyed a session manager server out of a comms room for something so so (allegedly simple) may well be versions but im now going to go and have a word with a good bottle of merlot and discuss the issue :)

NO further forward but works on a 6.2 sm with 6.2 cm ( not that i see how cm can have any bearing .... in fact it cant) i reckon the other sm is not a happy bunny.... but if anyone has a set up for that version 6.1 feel free to share not with xlite but any third party sip endpoint not using CM as a feature server

Good place to start is to ssh into the sm...
You ssh into SM1 Mgt and run the command traceSM and select SIP tracing and Call processing. The following keys a used:

traceSM100 and select N for previous file and N for filter. After it starts, hit f and define your filter. When done, hit s to stop and q to quit.
s - start/stop trace
q - quit
f - filter. (-u 1456) was the filter I was using. You can do a -u any dial string and filter on station, calling or called number.

The SIP conversations are separated by color

It will tell you if it's making it to the SM and what is going on.

That's my issue traceSM was showing nothing neither was tracesm100 , the confusing thing was I had the softphone on the same pc that I was running trace sm from ... Hence being confused
