I removed my (working) hard drive in my ThinkPad A22m in order to use the "chassis" to build up a new hard drive for one of my users. The user has an almost identical ThinkPad model. I used IBM's product recovery CD's and was successful in building the new drive. I shipped the new HDD off tho the user.
Then when I put in my old HDD, it is not recognized upon boot. Message is :"Hard drive not installed: If operating system not found, re-install hard drive. Hit any key to exit."
During the new hard drive build (OS = W2K Pro), I got a message referring to an LBA parameter not correct and would I like to correct it?. I answered yes.
I am assuming that this parameter was a BIOS parameter that by re-flashing the BIOS and setting it to it's defult values I could get my machine to recognize the original HDD. No such luck - still doesn't think the HDD is installed.... I even unplugged/plugged the CMOS battery and no change.
In BIOS I see nothing related to HDD.
Where is the HDD info stored, if not in BIOS? How can I fix this problem? (Aside from never doing this again....)
TIA
