Thinkpad dual 3com install

I'm installing Win 98 on a Thinkpad 760XD. It insists on installing a second 3com 3c589C Ethernet PCMCIA card.

Orig install was ok. As soon as you restart PC it "detects" (PNP) the 3COM and trys to install again. The PC freezes up. HELP
