Thinkpad CMOS battery 1

before i start into something i'll regret later..

has anyone replaced the CMOS battery in an IBM Thinkpad 1421 iSeries laptop?

like, is there a site somewhere that shows what has to be removed to get to it?

From the information you provided, I believe this is the hardware manual for your laptop, follow through with the backup battery replacement procedure, and reference the other steps involved. The diagrams are pretty self-explanatory. Good luck

that link was the correct hardware manual...looks like i have to take off a few things, but doesn't look impossible, so i'll take a wack at it.

HI,
IBM site is pretty good re manuals for laptops.
I have replaced cmosBatt in 2 different models: look under the RAM-cover. It will be hanging on wires, pushed inside the case & hard to spot, with yellow plastic cover.
