I recently aquired an older laptop for school. It's an IBM Thinkpad 390x (Type 2626-LOU, to be precise). It is running Windows XP Professional. I am trying to get the S-Video out to work. I tried starting it cold with the S-Video cable connected, hot, switching resolutions, downloading drivers, ... you name it (the one thing i haven't been able to do is update the bios, which is due to the fact that i need a fully charged battery. the battery i have received is bad, so I am waiting for the hamfests to get a deal on a battery. i would order one today if IBM didn't want $207 for it!! ..but that's neither here nor there). Anywho.. I would be greatful to anybody who can help me out.

i got it to work. the driver wasn't put where it was supposed to be. easy solution
