I am currently running Progression 7.6.100a and am considering upgrading to 7.6.300c and was wondering if there were any considerations I should take before making the change.

Macola has now incorporated most of the Peak Best of OE code into 7.6.300. There are files you will need to initialize & you should check out their generate PO from OE as well as the enhanced commission module & the power inquiries. Major changes to printing in general from 100 to 300. Sometimes you need to initialize the print default file & recapture the default printer again. The programs now run from the bin folder instead of the programs folder.

Which files would I have to initialize, we are using AR, AP, IM, OE & PO the General Ledger & the Bank Book.

PO to OE link? We had Macola program that as a mod way back in 1998 when we got Macola. We are going to Macola ES and was told that I would have to have that reprogrammed or I could do it with flex.

Is there a built in PO->OE link in 7.6.300? If so, where?

I found the link, however I can't access it. On my older system it would be 'enabled' when I would set Qty to ship to 0. How can I activate it?

The link in OE in 300 came from the Peak Best of OE code, which macola has now added. Macola's original oe/po link was not nearly as robust as Peak's. Too bad if they don't have it in ES. Maybe it's on the enhancement list? If your older system you are referencing is 100a, then you have macola's original implementation (not as good as Peak's) & you would have to be registered for advanced distribution. Peak's is far superior to what you could do in 100a.

OE to PO has been around since at least 76100 -- at least 2-3 years. This is also a part of ES and has been around for the same period of time.

In ES this on on the Purchasing tab of the item master. In Progression this is on page 2 of the item master.

We've had the OE->PO Link since version 7.5 Macola made a mod for us. I just did an upgarde (on a backup server) to 7.6.100 then .200 & finally .300

I noticed under the 'about' & 'packages' that advanced distribution is not listed. Is that where it would be if I had it?

Exact software told me that the OE->PO link is not in ES. They wanted extra money to 'program' it. So you are saying that it is? If so I am going to have a few choice words with them. They wanted 60 hours at $175 per hour to do this.

Pronet74,

I cannot post the screenshots to this forum, however OE to PO is already there, although maybe not the same logic you had them program for you in version 7.5 when you first got it.

I can confirm that this works (I just tested it). You have 3 ways to create the PO, order qty, backorder qty or ship qty. I tested with order qty and it worked. Unless they have addressed this, the PO created never looks at the order minimums or multiples as MRP would, it just creates the order based on the way you tell it to in OE setup.

Advanced distriution is not a module per se, instead it is a set of functionality within the existing distribution modules. This functionality consists of:

Landed Cost
Confirm Pick/Ship
RMA
Multi-Bin
Receiving Inspection

You do not need advanced distribution to use OE to PO.

Thanks.. I looked in the OE Setup and it's working fine now. I will be talking to Exact Software on why they were trying to charge me for a Mod that comes with ES to begin with.

Please post back with their response. I would also like to use this story in my next newsletter. Please contact me offline if this is acceptable.

No red flags please, I am not selling or promoting.
