thin client and citrix metaframe 1.8 and printer

I have got a Compaq T 1010 Windows CE Terminal computers
I am use Citrix Metaframe 1.8

I have got several new printer (diffrent brand)

I want to install this printers but I don' t file printer drivers on my Windows CE Thin Client Computer.

I have got a lot of thin client, a lot of user and a lot of new printer ?

hi,
you have not to install or specify printer driver at
Win CE Level: rather when configure the Thin CLient,
say that there is not printer.

(This is used with rdp protocol: for test if you
delete RDP protocol at thin client level, the printer
capabilities disappears: but don't delete it if you are not able to download from internet updated firmware for T1010)

Well, you could ask me: how can I configure printer ?

Install drivers for spicified printers. Go at T1010,
login at the server and launch

Start|Program|Citrix|Metaframe|ICA Client Printer Configuration

(Not from server, it will be launched from an ICA Session)

I don't use this techinque with ThinClient becouse the printer, will be owned by the user, and no other can print
on them (or the name is almost not easy)

I use lpd server capability that ThinClient offers:
I setup a queue on ThinClient and I name it TPRINT.

After I install on a printer server ( A W2K server, not
necessarly the Metaframe server, better if NO ),
TCP printer services for Windows (I have mixed NT4 NT5 labels, not knowing what server you can use)
From this server, add a printer | local |
Create a new port | LPR type |

Enter ip adress of thinclient and TPRINT as queue name
specify printer type and install drivers. Share this
printer name is PRIDEP01 and install drivers also on metaframe server without specify printer.

At user level Add printer (only network he can) and
go to point at \\SERVER\PRIDEP01: if the driver are there
in MF server, user can do this operation, and also another
user with desk near him can do this without buy another print.

I many situation, this is useful also to print on this queue
from server of other type as OS400, UNIX, and OS3090 where
Thinclient run emulation program
