Hello all
Our web host upgraded their (Apache) web server, and now we have problems! All of the files in the root web folder and below are intact, but the entire navigation structure of our web is gone. From what I've been able to find out, the nav info is stored in a file called Structure.cnf, which resides above the root web on the servers directory tree. If that file is recoverable and gets back into the _vti_pvt folder, I guess the nav should be fine.

Here's what I HAVEN'T been able to find out:
Could the same be true of the "Content" parameter for the meta-name values for Themes and Shared Borders? For some reason, where all of our pages had values for these (since we use a Theme and Shared Borders) these values are now set to "none, default" on all pages!

This value changed on ALL of the pages when the site was moved to the new server, so it's not a little "oops" on a page or two. This makes me think that these meta-name values are created by FP Extensions according to info stored SOMEWHERE, but where? Is that also in Structure.cnf, or in some other file?
We don't share the borders on all pages, so it's not as simple as just "apply to all pages", so if anyone can point me in a direction it would sure help :)

This is one of the main reasons that you should have a back up copy of your web, because whenever the server extensions are reinstalled the shared borders and navigation data is wiped out. You would need to publish from the backup copy to restore this data for your web. I do not think that this data can be recovered if there was no backup - but I wouldn't sware to it.

You're right Tiffany. Although Microsoft doesn't explicitly say so anywhere that I've found, I've gathered that the process is to republish after applying FP Server Extensions. Wouldn't it be nice if the DID explicitly say so? If they did, I'm sure my host would have alerted all of his FP users and saved himself a lot of irate phone calls!

Unfortunately, users don't always do what we tell them to... until after they lose a bunch of work! When I trained the user, I really DID instruct her to make changes on the local copy and republish. I guess the "deer in the headlights" look should have been a clue ;-)

Thanks for the input!
