The weirdest problem...

I just had the weirdest thing happen. I was working in my database modifying a SELECT query when I got up to use the restroom. I came back and about 3 of my tables are gone! I didn't do anything to the database, I didn't run any queries (they're all select anyway) and nothing else was going on on my machine besides a virus scan...Anyway, is ther any way to recover a 'deleted' table in Access? Otherwise I'm screwed out of a week's worth of work... Thanks for any help!

Hiya,

You had your virus scan set so that it deleted rather than quarantined? (Just a thought).

'Back-up procedure' springs to mind mate.

Sorry.

I'm not aware of a virus scanner that scans and selectively deletes tables from within an open database, so your explanation seems a little dubious. Sounds like it could have otherwise been (other access to the database over the network, removing these tables, or someone else passing their magic fingers over your keyboard whilst you were away). Fingerprinting comes to mind as an idea.

Seriously though, Darryles suggestion re backups is a good idea to prevent this happening again. I assume you tried a compact and repair, and checked that these tables didnt re-appear. Also check out the Tools, Options, View Hidden Objects option, to make sure that these tables are'nt just hidden - maybe someones idea of a joke.

Good luck

Thanks for your suggestions, at least I'll know how to prevent this in the future...
