Before I start, I know this isn't exactly ASP related, but there seems to be a concentration of very knowledgeable programmers in this ASP forum. Anyway, back to the question:

Let's say you were an ASP programmer at a corporation with experience with SQL server, etc. and wanted to do some web development at home. What is your favorite language/tools to use that is/are not microsoft products? What would you concentrate on learning for non-corporate web development? What is hot and what is not? I've heard PHP is pretty good, and CGI is kinda on the outs. I'm trying to learn java also. What is your opinion?

I think u need some easy tools like Visual Studio(Visual Interdev, Visual Java) From Microsoft with ASP and VBScript, u could also use it for Java and for Javascript.
I use it and i'm fully satisfied and is easy to use... ________
