I am reading through the book Programming Perl 3rd Edition and came across a term "BESTIARY" and was curious as to how this term would be defined. I am simply curious as to specifically what it mean in the context of Regular Expressions.

I realize this may seem like a silly question, but I was curious.

Found on page 140 of the book - if you happen to have it.

Thanks,

Gary

Bestiary (bes'ti-er'i), n., a medieval collection of fables, allegories, and fanciful, often moralistic, stories about animals.

s/medieval/programmer's/;
s/animals/regular expressions/;

s-) "If you think you're too small to make a difference, try spending a night in a closed tent with a mosquito."

Mr. Wall is pretty famous for his humor. You should read some of the comments in the Perl source code.
