Hi. not sure this is the right forum ( please Mod move ) but here's my problem. the speed of my processor fan is constantly varying and this is driving my nutz. it's the changing sound of the fan that drives me nuts. I assume it's my processor fan because every time I give a task to the PC, well the fan run faster, then slower, then higher again...
I have a DFI motherboard, I check in the bios if I could fix the problem but didn't see anything (I'm no expert there)
I want the fan to have a stable speed. no more fluctuation.
where and how can I fit this problem? is is a feature in XP?

thanks for your help

It's not a feature of XP. And it could be any fan in the system - power supply fan, CPU fan, case fan. They could be doing this because they are A) going bad or B) computer to controlled to vary speed by load/heat.

You have to run your PC with the side open to try to identify which fan is doing it. Also investigate whether any of the fans have electronic throttling. If they don't, then it's just likely the fan is dying and you need to replace it. But as I said, you have to identify it first.

thanks for your help
I'm certain the fans are not going bad. it has been like that since I change something in me setting. Now I don't remember what I have done and how...
it's a small fan, not psu . I can tell by the noise.

so it's either processor or video IMO. I will check.
what to do to turn them stable ...that I don't know.

when I assemble my pc I remember some fan in there has multiple wire, I guess these were for multiple speed operation....
