Can't install HP 3940 driver on Windows XP (in Linux works fine). The driver installation went ok, windows found my printer but at the end got the following error:
"Cannot install this hardware. An error occured during installation. The specified port is unknown".
When I try to add a printer manually in Add Printer Wizard, the list of available printer ports is EMPTY!!! And I can't use the opition to create a new USB port!
Every boot Windows founds my Printer but displays again "The specified port is unknown". Please help me.

I think it is a USB/XP problem. Go into Device manager, cleck on usb then delete the usb ports. Restart the computer then plug the printer back in.
