The real SAP

Is this forum for the actual SAP Application? I mean the huge Oracle db and beautiful interface that the big companies use? If so I'd like to learn how to program or customize SAP. I'm a total newbie with a lot of SQL / Access / VB and C++ experience. Are there any BEGINNERS books or something i could look at to learn SAP Programming?
