I have Win2000 server running and I have a problems with some folders. The first problem is that I can't access some user folders with the error message that access is denied. I tried going in the properties of the folder to change some of the security attributes so that I could add some adding permissions, but the second problem is that I cannot acces the security tab because "information cannot be displayed".
Where can I change this configuration from does anybody know?

Are you talking about profile folders? By default windows 2000 doesn't (unlike NT) add the administrators to the permissions list on these folders. Do this... go into the properties for a folder you want to access click the security tab then advanced then the owner tab and make administrators the owner, I'm assuming you are the admin. Then change the permissions.

SP2 adds and option in group policy under - Computer Configuration-Administrative templates-System-Logon the setting is called - Add the administrators security group to roaming user profiles. When enabled any accounts you create will give you access to the profiles but won't effect accounts already there.

Hope this helps,

Steve.
