Stop for a moment and think how many meanings you know for the word right.

right < turn right

right angle < 90 degrees ... probable has some relation to the first one.

Choose the right < pick correctly ... My geography tells me Mufassa's sure to have heard this one. Although now I'm curious about how frequently it may be used outside of the state of Utah.

So on and so on. Can anyone thing of a single word with more meanings?

Set's 464 definitions seem to be various degree's of placing something, adjusting something or establishing some thing.

But by the same measuring stick I could only come up with 4 for right.

correct...He's right or you made the right choice.
directional...Take a right or the one on the right.
mathmatical...a right angle
legal...human rights

anyway found a "right" pun that's a little slippery in verbage but the logic is sound.

If you can only go left or right, and you know that left isn't right, then by the process of elimination, right must be right because it's the only way left.

I agree that many 'sets' could fall into these categories, but how would you classify a tennis set, or cement being allowed to set, or a mathematical set? In the game of bridge, to set a contract is to defeat it.

light

To light a fire (to start burning).
To light a subject (to turn on the lights as in, say, photography).
Turn off the light (a light bulb).
light upon - as in "to land gently on"
This will make your face light up/you light up my life (brighten).
This is light (not heavy).
light-headed (dizzy or feeling faint).
I take my coffee light and sweet (with milk, resulting in closer-to-white color)

I'm sure a visit to dictionary.com would shed more light on this word's many uses.

In the dark,

Dave

No offense intended, John,

But I've been playing the card game of "Rook" for over 20 years (it's a really long game); I often tell my (good-natured), bridge-playing folks that Rook is like Bridge, only FUN!

They sort of giggle, offer me spinach, and then ask me to leave.
