The published application fails to open in a timely manner

5 x 2003r2 enterprise , 4 x 3 processors 32gb memory each servers on one Citrix Presentation version 4 enterprise farm


When I run a published app from a desktop the account connects to the Citrix farm as announced in the management console and as seen in Terminal servers ICA connection
But the application times out and fails to open. If the app is activate about 4 times it eventually opens. But this can take up to 20 minutes
Any suggestions would be gratefully received
