I receive this message when trying to run a crystal report. The main report has four subreports.

Are there any things I need to address in Section Expert? All Subreports reside in Group Footer 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d sections.

Thank you

Usually this message relates to an object in a page header or page footer, which cannot exceed the page size, so in design mode, I would check whether one of the subs inadvertently got moved to one of these sections. Or see if you have accidentally stretched a page header or footer section beyond the allowable page size.

What I found was that a sub-report called Shortagesv2 is the culprit. Specifically, the Details section of the report (this subreport is a Mailing Label format). For if I hide or suppress the Details the report runs fine. The report even shows the “the page size was not large enough to format the contents of an object in the report” message if no fields are in the Details section.

Any thoughts?

Try running the sureport on its own and see if you still get the error--save it under another name and open as a separate report to test.

You might want to look in design mode and even change the paper size to legal see if there are objects on the report that you are not aware of.

Again, I would double check the location of the sub and make sure it was not moved to a page header or footer section. Also check the page header and footer sections within the sub for unexpected objects.

Thanks, the sub report by itself runs fine. In the main report it is I
A report group footer. The sub report is a Mailing Label. I have made some tweaks and it fails in certain dates with in a date range. I'm suspecting bad data or that a Mailing Label can't be a sub report.

A mailing label report can be added as a subreport, so that's not the issue. What do you mean it fails for certain date ranges? Are you getting the same error message about an object not fitting on the page? I really think this has to be a page header/footer problem. Does the error disappear from the main report when the subreport is removed? Do you have anything in the page headers/footers?

Yes, getting the same error message. When the sub report is removed the report runs fine. Nothing in the page header or footer of the sub. I checked a couple of times. Good to know that a mailing label can be a sub report. If I suppress the details section of the sub report that is the mailing label, the report does not show the message object not fitting on page and runs just fine. I even found that if the details section is not suppressed and NO fields are in the details section the report exhibits the message.

I can't recreate this issue in CR XI. I wonder if the details don't fit in the label size chosen or something. Did you insert extra detail sections beyond those that automatically appear with the label expert? Maybe try different label sizes and see if the issue disappears.

as an fyi - there are Group Headers in the Mailing Label. Material, then Job #. In the details is the Work Center information for each Job. That should be the issue, but more information the better. I now it is not protocal but if you want to have a look at it, I can sent you a link to a download site.
