The odbc driver version xxx is not compatable

Hello I have a new sql server I have just installed and all apps but one are working. Everytime I get to the logon screen of this particular app a popup comes that says

The 'odbc driver version 03.80.0746 installed is not compatable with this application.'

I have reinstalled mdac 2.6 and upgraded sql 7.0 to sp1. The new server is NT4 SP6
old is NT4 SP4

I cant roll back at this point and I thought that the odbc drivers would be backwards compatable. Also when I look in odbc connections I dont see anything with the version # that the error spits out. Any ideas or hints. I have to have this box up by Mon morning !!!

The problem may be that the application can only work with an older Version of ODBC. The messages guided to this.
It does not seems to be the driver itselfs, the application is the error-handler.

I agree, i think after further troubleshooting I have found that the app is coded for the newer odbc driver than the server is running. Not 100% yet but getting there. Plus all other apps that run from DB's on this server are fine.
