Ip office v2 has replaced an 8X24 but one of the users with a 9508 can't get past the difference in the handsfree
quality. Let's face it m7310 were used on conference tables all over this nation many never needed a dedicated conference
style phone. Adjustments to the phone settings have been made. noise reduction off, speaker to more, echo off.
Whats the solution?
full disclosure 9508 text version

Weel, face it, Nortel went down and taken over by Avaya.
Avaya have their own sets so the Norton sets are supported but not sold anymore.

Avaya never announced the 95xx series as full conference phones so what is the complaint?

There is nothing to compare as the Nortel phones are history.

The solution is to place a real conference phone next to the 9508.

Weel, face it, Nortel went down and taken over by Avaya. Like fight club.. I am slowly learning that fact.

Avaya have their own sets so the Norton sets are supported but not sold anymore. Got that fact a few years back

Avaya never announced the 95xx series as full conference phones so what is the complaint? I described the complaint it ain't from me I just have to fix it.

There is nothing to compare as the Nortel phones are history. Yes so true but she is comparing and needs a solution.

The solution is to place a real conference phone next to the 9508

I was hoping for something like I have found this Avaya phone xxxx.... is a better speakerphone than the 9508.
I am just looking at making one person happy. She owns the company. Although I don't know if a phone replacement (if not accepted)
would just make her think the system is not as good on hands-free as the Norstar was.
[wink]

Give them a 9608. Full duplex speaker/mic.

Depending on the URI configuration the ICR can be completely ignored.

If your URI is configured to use internal data then the IP Office will look into the user's SIP tab and if you have *'s it will look into ICR.

A madman with a taste for speed.

thanks holdmusic34
The 9508 is a full-duplex speakerphone as well. In your experience, is the
speakerphone performance better than the 9508?
I think the speaker is fine, she being a bit fussy about it.

I know this is off topic, but I can't seem to help myself.

A lot of the Nortel engineers (specifically from the Norstar and BCM developments offices in Ontario and Alberta) have ended up at Mitel. Mitel has spent a lot of time on the latest series of phones (6800 and 6900 series). The audio quality is pretty impressive. If you look at the 6900 series some time - look at the all four sides of the phone (specifically the 6930 or 6940). If you look at any of the phones from the left side-in, you will notice Mitel made a LOT of room for a quality speaker. It really adds to the thickness of the phone (it's very noticeable), however they definitely have some excellent quality desktop IP phones.

I know that doesn't help your issue, but just wanted to say.

The mitel guy
It comes down to the quality of the call. they are loving a new pri
She is a little to focused on the hands-free. I wonder if twinning her cell
phone would make her happy. She certainly uses it often.

If she's going to be that fussy the only solution is to add a TCM card and give her a 7610. FWIW, the7600 series never impressed me as far as sound quality went. The 9508 is much better IMO.

Cant throw the baby out with the bathwater Pmcook
looking for a better alternative than the 9508 that's what this is about.

No idea how adding her favorite phone throws anything out. You can run both 7600s and 9500s at the same time. Get a Soundstation 2 or a B159. Problem solved. The 9608 has better sound quality as somebody else mentioned.

The speakerphone on the 9641G is probably as good as you will get.

I never worked on Nortel and never did anything but rip them out since I work on Avaya.

BUT

The Nortel hands free kicks Avaya's (9508 and 9608) gluteus maximus big time. As sad as it is to admit that a 25 year old phone is better than a new one there is an explanation for it.

In 1999 the T7316 was sold for about $300 - $350 (Canadian $) which was a shitload of dough and today if you tell a customer they have to pay $300 for a phone they look at you with a sympathetic look and think I escaped from a mental institution and try to rip them off. (OK, OK I know - Exceptions are executives that don't care about the money and just want something that looks fancy and spend $650 for a 9641GS or the new Vantage phone)

After Testing I have concluded that 9508 and 9608 are very similar but the 9508 can be
adjusted in three ways the 9608 can be adjusted in one way.
The1416 is actually beter than 95 0r 96.
9641G is wide band audio and is much better.

I knew I'd filed away something last week:

"The speakerphone for the 9504 will be as close to full-duplex as possible, without the use of a DSP. The 9508 will have a downloadable DSP for full-duplex speakerphone operation and echo cancellation while auxiliary power is present. While auxiliary power is not present, the speakerphone for the 9508 will be at least as close to full-duplex as possible, without the use of a DSP"

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

NOthnig beats a good conference phone if you are calling handsfree a lot!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Ok sizbut I think DSP is digital signal processor but I don't understand how that helps.
