This evening one of my web servers crashed. We use JBoss as a server on a Dell PE850 with Win 2003 standard. When I brought the server back up everything was dated June 13, 2008 but the weird thing is System Restore isn't even installed on this box.

The newest files were dated June, all of our web pages were old (we had done a major update of our site about a month ago) so this is truly bizarre.

All the logs stop on June 13 and then start when I fired the server up from its crash so I can't even tell what caused the box to go down. We had no power spikes that I know of, we have 20 other servers and at least 5 others in that rack all of which were up and running no problems so I doubt it's power related.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Is there a Twilight marathon on this holiday weekend that I missed?

Thanks for any suggestions...

Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

Does this system have a mirror?
I have seen a scenario like this when one drive goes offline in a mirror and the system keeps running... Then the system goes down at a later date and reboots to the drive that was "offline" and the system is essentially "rolled back" to the date that the drive went offline...

Could this have happened to you?

Have you had any hardware maintenance performed on your server (ie motherboard replacement). I had a tech install a new motherboard and he did not bother changing the date in the BIOS which led our OS to "think" it was 6 months earlier.
