hey,

i want to make an illustration with the lichtenstein effect, it's caused by the old print methodes they used back then...so you got like small dots on the image...
Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

More commonly known as Spot Color printing. Still used today. Although I have not tried it, I believe you can do this with Symbols or Swatches. I think you will need to create a symbol or swatch for every color you plan to use in the art which could be a pain. This involves actually drawing the array of circles in each color and saving them as a symbol or swatch. So, when you actually draw the art, use one of swatches you made for fill color and you should get that effect.
Anyone else like to add to this?

Hi,
I'm not sure if you could achieve that effect just using Illustrator. I had a play and created a simple drawing, saved is as a jpg file and imported it into photoshop. I then duplicated the layer, filled that layer with black and then ran a Filter > Sketch > Halftone Pattern. Created a Dot pattern (you'll have to experiment on the size depending on the canvas size). You then reduce the fill so that the lower layer shows through. Flatten the image and there you are.
I don't know if this will help but it's one way to try if you've got photoshop. Have fun.

You've got the same filter in Illy for vectors, centrax:

Effect>Pixelate>Colour Halftone
