I have extended the lv for the lg_dump, but still getting it.

IDENTIFIER TIMESTAMP T C RESOURCE_NAME DESCRIPTION

What is the exact implication of this error? I can't extend the lv on and on.

thx much

If at one time your machine needs to produce a dump (system crash, firmware error, ...) it will not succeed. You won't have a dump for IBM support or lab to examine.

It's for you to decide: Do you want to be able to examine a failure at first occurrence or after you have extended the dump LV after first crash and wait until next time it happens? ...

HTH,

The system runs sysdumpdev -e and sysdumpdev -l once in a while and if the dump device is not as big as the estimated dump size it posts a warning in errpt.
If you want to check the estimated size with the -e switch, do it when the system is busy for more acurate results. For this reason I seem to remember it normally runs at about 3pm.
