Hi Guys.

First post here, though I've had many a helpful tip from you lot. So even if you can't fix this, thanks for the help already received.

I have a Win2K SP4 server running SQL 2000 and Arcserve 2000 version 7 Build 1100, Compaq DLT8000 hardware compression enabled.

Job is configured to backup itself then 3 other remote machines.

It has two issues, which I don't know if they are related.

One is a job that will not die. It is showing as active for more than a year (I've just recently inherited support for this box). The box has been rebooted lots, the engines restarted, right click and stop etc. etc.

The other issue is driving me nuts. Job backs up local computer, then connects to first agent. Log shows nothing for nine hours, then unable to connect to media (because our Ops remove the tape). Tape remaining 0mb, compression 0:00 (don't know if this is actual or because tape was removed).

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

if you delete the contents of the 00000001.qsd directory

Program Files\ComputerAssociates\ARCserve\00000001.qsd

stop and restart the arc serve services this will kil the job

but you will have to reset the job back up, so know what it is getting

Still waiting for my colleauge to try the above, will get back to you if it works.

Cheers

Allen

As dumb as this sounds, I've had jobs hang up because they need more media, *without* actually prompting anywhere but the media server itself. I could log in remotely to the server, no messages about media at all. I had to actually go to the server room and log in to the server itself in order to click "ok" on the dialog complaining about media in order to kill the job. Shesh!
