hello all, i am an entry level Scripter. i say this bcos i only changes scripts once every 6 months, so i tend to forget and have to re-learn every time i work on Symposium.

my question is the following. when i build a scipt and start out by saying wait 5 or 10 hearing music or silence and i follow up w/the statment

GIVE RAN 4 (or 5 or 6)

what else can i subsitute for RAN? in other words, if i build an announcement in MerMail (yes, we still use it), can i say

GIVE AS 2100

or is RAN the only option available to me? just curious if there are other options beside GIVE Ran and GIVE Music.

OPEN VOICE SESSION
PLAY PROMPT blah_gv

That will require access channels to be config'd in MerMail.

Or you can use GIVE IVR command to play a TREATMENT (Voice Announcement). This does not require Access integration with Meridian Mail/Call Pilot, but dedicates one voice mail port to a single caller for the duration of the announcement.

This does require reconfiguration and $$$. So if you are not considering spending any time/money, GIVE RAN XX is your only option.

what about

GIVE ANNOUNCEMENT 2100 or
GIVE MENU SERVICE 5000?

would any of these work? have to stick to MerMail until we upgrade.

No

You can only use:

GIVE RAN X = message from RAN
GIVE IVR X WITH TREATMENT Y = IVR Port in MerMail
OPEN VOICE SESSION
PLAY PROMPT X = Access Port in MerMail

actually, i think it's

GIVE RAN
GIVE MUSIC
GIVE RINGBACK
GIVE SILENCE
GIVE IVR

is that all of them?

Thats all the GIVE statements yes, but only the 3 mentioned earlier will play a message.

And "GIVE CONTROLLED BROADCAST ANNOUNCEMENT" Requires access ports into call pilot.
