Has anyone stumbled across this error message yet?

Am using Windows XP SP3, NTFS file system, local hard drive. When attempt to delete or move the files in question, the message noted in the Subject field appears.

Have already tried running CHKDSK /r. It DOES NOT fix the file, unfortunately.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Lemon13,

Would it go something like this: CHKDSK /f /r

Thanks

Actually the chkdsk /r switch implies the /f switch. You really don't need both.

You may need to reformat the hard drive in order to fix the problem.

I had a similiar problem on a server. A SATA controller failed and wiped out a folder with a very large number of files. When the server rebooted, it wanted to run chkdsk on the corrupted partition. After 2 days, chkdsk was STILL running. We rebooted the server and then by passed the chkdsk in order for the server to boot.
