I get "The file just loaded does not appear to be executable"
when trying to boot.

I have tried the following:

boot cdrom -s (solaris 10 installation CD)
fsck /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt
installboot /usr/platform/'uname -i' /lib/fs/ufs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
umount /mnt
fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
init 6
Still the above error persists

Any assistance appreciated

Shaan00, This problem could be one of several problems. Try this, instead of using the Installation CD, use the Software CD (Disk 1) and run boot cdrom -s.

Maybe you are using sparc installation CD on a inte machine?

I can boot of the cdrom fine but I cant boot off the hard disks.

My mistake... Thought you were trying to boot from cdrom. You have installed the boot block on SCSI controller 1, Target 0, disk 0 and slice 0 (c1t0d0s0). Are you sure the root partition is on that disk?

The normal devalias for disk, disk0 point to disks on Controller 0. You will have to create an alias for your disk on Controller 1 and put that alias into NVRAM entry boot-device.

Thnaks everyone for all you help. I was able to boot the box with the c1t0d0s0 disk (controller 1). I will keep it like this.

Thanks again
