Hi,

I'm having a problem restoring Exchange databases in a test environment. I'm trying to verify backups on another server in a closed test environment. The test server has the same netbios name and same service accounts. I installed Exchange 5.5 with the same credentials as the original (organization name, server name etc.) Same service pack. Everything by the book as far as I can tell.

The original backup was done with Arcserve2k. It was a full online backup with circular logging turned off. I restore the IS and DS to the test server and everything runs smoothly. Arcserve appears to have done its job.

When I try to run isinteg -patch I get the error:

DS_E_COMMUNICATIONS_PROBLEM

Needless to say I can't get the Directory Service to start no matter what I do. When I do go into "services" and try to start the Microsoft Exchange Directory I get the error:

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

The subsequent event is written to the event log:

(222) Unable to read the log header. Error -530

The System Attendant starts without a hitch.

I really don't have much of an Exchange background. Any insights you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
