when I start CDE on my Sun Sparc workstation running Solaris 9. The famous error message is:
"The DT messaging system could not be started. To correct the problem, select the Failsafe session and log in. Check that the hostname is correct in these locations:
/etc/src.sh
/etc/hosts
/usr/adm/inetd.sec"
etc.

Could someone tell me that what "DT" means in Solaris OS,and the feature of the "DT",I saw "DT" frequently in solaris, but i don't know what this two words mean.

And how could I resolve this question, thanks!

One solution could be to put your fully qualified hostname (this can be as simple as hostname. - note the period) in /etc/hosts rather than the 'short' name which is presumably in it at the mement.

DT is pretty much the whole CDE, make sure the rpc.ttdbserverd is in your /etc/inetd.conf. Check your permissions on the symbolic link to /dev/null, your .X and .TT authority files.
