The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Tape0.

Can anyone help me with this please?

I'm running BENT 8.5 Rev. 3572 and keep getting the above error message in Event Viewer. The backup job doesn't start and I get two alerts in BE:

Media is unrecognized.

The media in drive 'ARCHIVE 0' is written in an unrecognized format. Erase the media to make it usable.

and,

Please remove the media from the drive.

In the device tab the tape is listed as Bad Media.

It doesn't matter if I try other tapes. The job is set to always overwrite.

I have had to do this recently:

1. Goto the "Devices" tab after I insert the tape
2. Right click on the device and do a quick erase.
3. and then go to the Media tab and goto All Media and find the media you just erased and right click and do a move media and move it to Media Set 1 (Which is the Media Set I am using)
