The double click on "Line Tool" not working?

I an new acolyte to Photshop and started a tutorial my "Mark Monciardini" at "Designsbymark.com" He's tutorial is for versions 5.5 whereas my version is 7.

He is giving a lesson creating triangles using the "line tool". And on the tutorial he says if I double click the "line tool" I will be given a set of options for Line options etc. However if I double click on it nothing happens. Why???

In version7 u can't draw lines directly through d.click the tool,in this version they convert all shapes -u draw by this Line tool or other tools which appears when u right click the tool -to Pathes which exist in the Path palette.
U can draw lines by using the Pencil tool which exits with brush(to make it appears right click on its icon in the tools bar), or u can use the line tool but u will need to know how to use Path
