The device is not ready

When running a scheduled backup, we get the folowing error:

Storage device "COMPAQ 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.

Error reported:
The device is not ready.

If we go back and choose "run now" for the same jobs, they work fine. I cannot find anything on Veritas web site and their support is too costly (which is another issue, why spend so much money and get no support thrown in?)

I am running into the same errors with the device not being ready....the scheduled backups can run fine for days and then this error reappears
I have talked with Veritas and Compaq but no one seems to know an answer.
We installed a new picker and drive in the Compaq TL891.
The system is Win2k Adv Server, BE 8.0 build 3315.
The error occurs during the backup of the Sql Server (7.0).
The manual backups always succeed.
Have you found any solutions?
