Quite often the icons on my desktop get refresh for no obvious reason. Is there a way to stop that or at least diminish the number of time this happens ?
Michel Paquin
m.paquin@nfb.ca
<a href= Film Board of Canada
This deaktop is nothing more that a specially formatted Explorer window, so the refreshing is related to browse list refreshes. Below is tip #132 from <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> which may help witht he desktop but wont affect other explorer windows. I've researched the explorer refresh issue in the past and there doesn't appear to be much else that can be done.
If your desktop icons redraw frequently, try editing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer

Add Value of Max Cached Icons with type REG_SZ. Set it to 8000.

Note: There is a space after Max and after Cached.
