I had my Original Drive running XP PRO and Act 2006. I had to add that drive as a slave to a new system running XP PRO and Act 2007. Act 2007 loads up the databases created on the new sytem using Act 2007 load fine. However, the databases I moved from the Original Drive to the new system are unable to be opened. I continually get the message:

"The database "database name" could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software on your computer or the server."

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Gary

Thanks Mike,

I had come across these possible fixes but did not think the solutions applied in my case since I am not dealing with a networking issue (not attempting access or conversion via network). Both drives (2006 original db on slave drive and 2007 on master drive) are on the same machine. However, I have been able to convert 4 out of 5 of my 2006 databases by opening them in 2007 via ADF instead of PAD - it then proceeds to verify and convert the databases. So I'm ok in those 4. The 5th database still presents the same error message per above even when attempting to open it using the ADF. So I will try the fixes you outline unless advised otherwise.

I appreciate your help and reply in this regard.

And you'll notice that the 2nd option on the I pointed you to refers to damaged PAD files...

There are many possibilities and you need to try each of them.

Just because it's on the same machine, it can still be a networking issue. That's how professional databases work.
