Hi Group

This has to be a very simple problem. I have a few editboxes that I cut and pasted
into a panel. The controls are not visible at run or design time. I checked the object
inspector and the controls are listed. How do I resurrect these missing controls. For the life of me I can`t find these controls anywhere on the form

hi,

They are there but not visible.
Select in the object inspector the desired component and set the top and left property to 1. I think they will show again on the form

Look at the .dfm file (with Notepad) to see who realy "owns" your controls. If they are owned by the panel, then you will see them between the "object" and "end" for the panel. If you have a lot of panels set up this way, one may be overlapping or hiding another.

An easier method, Zathras, would be to look at the "Object Tree View". If the controls are contained properly within the panel then there should be a plus sign by the panel that you can expand to see those particular controls.

Clive, that sounds like a wonderful tool. Where do I find it?

Mezzzo, one other thing you can try is to right-click on the panel that you can see and select "Send To Back." That should allow you to see the panel that is hidden behind it.

After checking, I found this information about the Object TreeView:
"Delphi 5 introduced a TreeView for data modules...Delphi 6 extends the idea by providing an Object TreeView for every designer, including plain forms...The Object TreeView shows all the components and objects on the form in a tree, representing their relations"
The option can be found in the View menu

Ok. Thanks. Then I look forward to getting beyond D5 some day. [SMILE]

(I can only use what they provide for me here. [LOL])

The Object TreeView is one of my favorite things! A nifty trick is: instead of dropping the component on the form (where it may miss the panel) you can drop it on the panel IN THE OBJECT TREEVIEW and make sure it ends up where you want it to be! You can also move things around on the form in the TreeView. It also makes it very easy to find the component your looking for instead of hunting all over a form full of DBEdit boxes, you can just find the name of the DBEdit in the TreeView, click on it and then you can see all the properties in the Object Explorer.

So you have something to look forward to Zathras!
