If you were an IT consultant and helping your client setup their upcoming budget for technology. What percent would you tell them to set aside for training and what percentage would you tell them to set aside for support? I'm not sure if there is a clear cut answer to this. I would even appreciate a resource for looking this up myself. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Depends on complexity of applications. Hardware support will probably consume at least 40% per year of any hardware and networking costs. Training at least 100% of the cost of applications per year and probably closer to 400%. And the quality of initial training will determine the ongoing application support.
So for every $500 computer with $500 of distributed software costs I'd anticipate at least $3500 of hardware and software support costs. And depending on employee turnover this may be a recurring cost. Ed Fair
