The best way to make Charts and Graphs

I want to make some colorful comparison charts and graphs. What is the best software for making these? Is MS Excel O.K.?

Unlerss you want to get mega fancy then Excel should be fine. Easiest way is to try it.

Ken's right. But if you think you need something a bit more fancy, the standard Excel charts can be made to do some amazing things ... have a look at some of the things Andy has done for example:
