guys i was thinking(scarey)..when i load movies into my tv screen i want a pre-loader that imatates a static tv screen..if you don't know what i mean on the yellow banner above it has that effect..i would like for it to be darker than that but that kind of effect..how would i go about doing that...any ideas???

No preloader on this... It'll take a while to download!

Pretty heavy... Over 700KB! And only 6 frames looping!
Might be ways to reduce it!
This is 640*480. Could probabbly do a smaller mc and duplicate it, to cover the size you actually need to fit in your tv set.

old that's perfect..but do you think that it's to much to use as a preloader?.i only took me a sec to open but i'm on cable..and where's the fla so i can see how you did that..how did you do that?.thanks for the help..

Virt, just uploaded the .fla:

Yes, I guess it would be to heavy, for slow connected users.
This is an actual tv static captured through my tuner capture card. Although it contains no picture, each individual "graphic" seems to hold a lot of information.

The thing would be to try and recreate somewhat those patterns, but cutting down the file sizes to 10% or less.

Will think about it!

;-)

Yeah! But I do have other things to do!
Will get back on it tonight!
How would you use this? As a preloader to your different movies to be loaded on demand? Are you still thinking going that way? Or preloading the lot of them on the first main preloader?

;-)

yes i will use it as a pre-loader to load other movies into the screen..but i was thinking that if the movies that i load are not big enough or need pre-loading, i will just add that effect in the timeline of the actual loaded movie.. so it gives the effect of changing channels..you said you got that effect through a tuner graphic card right..what is that..i'm guessing it captures television somehow??and i know you are busy, i did not mean to sound pushy by no means..was just asking if you were still thinking..you old guys need a vacation..sheesh..

Virt,
What's the exact size in pixels, give or take 10, you need to fill your tv screen?

;-)

What?
Are you talkin' about the tv screen size on your previous .fla?

;-)

actual screen size..that would be the size of the pre-loader for the scenes, give or take a few..it was approximatly 14"/8" so i say about 1008/575 pixels..is that to much?. if so i will just leave it out..i have so many ideas where to go with this thing i can't make up my mind..but you said that effect was graphic intensive so if it is to much i will leave it out..

You're not getting this!
Size of the inside tv screen! Actual size of your sunset picture... Can't be more than like 400*300 or something around that size!

;-)

old the actual size of my movie is 1152/1152...so the inside of the screen would be approximatly 1008/575..

old explain to me when i try to import a illustrator eps file into flash it gives me an error saying that flash only supports adobe illustrator eps formats as well as freehand..well no sh__ that is what i'm trying to import and it won't let me..sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus these programs have minds of there own..i don't get it..will be back, i'm going to jump out my two story window now..if you could here me cursing..not a good site..

I wouldn't know anything about Illustrator!

Now to get back to my question! I think I'm waisted! Can't get QT to work with IE5.5 and I'm p... off!

I'm looking at the above... And my screen resolution is 1024*768 ok! I don't see of care what your actual movie size is! To me the tv set actually occupies half of my screen so not more +/- 500*400. Not the actual tv screen is even smaller than that... So whatever your put in that screen, can be that size and not necesarily 1152*1152 or whatever.
When you load an external movie it doesn't have to be the size of the main movie! If it's smaller, it will only occupy the space you want it too. So why have a sunset picture or whatever at a size of 1152*1152 if it's only going to occupy 40% of the total screen?

Now are you starting to get it?
Or have you jumped already?

;-)

ok yes now i'm starting to get it..and i was going to jump and then i heard that famous aol message "you got mail" and i decided to wait to see what in the he__ you are talking about..but yes now i get it so say the screen would be 400*250?? is that better..

Yes! Much better!
Now... Do you understand that whatever you'll be inserting in that screen, doesnt have to be an 1152*1152 picture or movie or whatever, but that it can be of the size of the inside screen... Thus cutting down on the whole size .fla & .swf!

This movie is 640*480, but the inside screens are like 320*200 & 320*240.
The lighter one (which I made out of the above banner you were talking about, the TEK-Tip one!) I got down to about 10KB, which is pretty good I figure. Now it seems the darker it is the bigger the file size is, 'cause the darker screen on it's own is over 40KB.

Guess we'll have to pick this up tomorrow, 'cause I'm going to bed!

;-)

yeh me to goodnight..and tomorrow we'll discuss this eps error message when i'm importing eps.format..i don't get it..but will figure out tomorrow..thanks for the help so far..

and if i have to i will use the lighter one....
