Hi, there, I have a problem. My navigation bar is 4 number buttons, like 1,2,3,4. I put different colors in "up" "over" and "down" state. I want to press the button, and make the "down" state stay. Is there any action script on this?

(I saw somewhere people add the second frame, which is a graphic of button in "down" state, after the frame which contains the button. And then put "gotoAndPlay2" in the first frame. I hope this is not the only way. That sounds like too much work..:)

thanks!

Jenny,
Unless Luke has a better solution, here's what you should do!
Any graphic you put on the "down" state (for that mater on the "over" state also) will only be visible when the button is clicked or rolled over in the other case. So that it remains visible, you should add a layer(in edit mode of your button) and insert a movie clip in the state you desire. That movie clip can be animated (with a stop action at the end), or it can be static... Just 1 frame with probably a stop action too.
If you want to be able to control that mc - make it invisible at some point for instance, you can't do it this way! You would have to design your mc, give it an instance name, and control it from within that button but on stage and not in the button's edit mode.

Thanks, Idnewbie!!! I see what your point. It doesn't sound so simle to me...I will experiment what you said. And,I just found an example on it and got to study its fla file.

Ummmm....say, like, button on up, its green, over it's blue and down its red...when you click on it, you want it to stay red?...

Here luke goes...
Maybe you might be able to put another button over it...like when you click on the button, it sets itself to _visible = false
and _visable = true of another button that is red...

I dont know, I'm just trying to help...
Otherwise, you might as well do the gotoandplay function and just replay buttons that way...personally, the _visible property is the only alternative solution I can think of without having to advance frames.
