is tftpdnld used only in router>crossover cable>pc configuration or can it be used in router>switch>pc configuration too?

And if neither of the above are correct settings for tftpdnld can someone please explain just the physical configuration for tftpdnld? thanks

(the router i'm operating on is a 2621. I tried to load c2600-advsecurityk9-mz.123-14.T7.bin and it took me to rommon. The reason was not enough ram I think> 16/48)

As long as you have local network connectivity at layer two, it doesn't matter how you have it connected.

you could use xmodem thru your console cable---takes a long time at 9.6Kbps, though.

yes ty, xmodem is indeed very slow. Any way to crank it up even a little?

A TIP if you use this. The commands are case sensative.

just passing by this old thread, wanted to say thanks again to everyone, and that tek-tips provide about 90 of answers to my questions.
