I am setting up a 2650 router that is in front of a firewall that won't allow tftp traffic from the router. How do I stop the router from trying to get info from a tftp server. We previously had a 2610 router and did not have this problem as the tftp service was not enabled by default. Every 10 minutes this router searches for a tftp server. Everything else works fine on it.

try NO SERVICE CONFIG, this will stop the router from loading a config file from the network. The no service config command will also cause BOOT HOST or BOOT NETWORK to be disabled.
But first make sure, you have a working config in NVRAM ;-)
