TFTP from IP Phone

Is there anyway to avoid having to have the IP Office System Manager running in order for IP Phones to be able to TFTP their code from the system?

Use a 3rd party TFTP server such as solarwinds or avaya's.

Where can I find the files that I need to have available on the TFTP server?

Do I need to disable the TFTP that is started when the system manager is brought up?

you can donwload a free TFTP provided by Avaya on thier support site, just search for the IP phone you are using and the download is on that same page as the firmware.

You can run both at the same time, no need to close either. Once a TFTP server in started and properly configured with the firmware, the IP Phones will get what they need from it and no longer go to Manager for it,

OK. I used the WinAgents TFTP Server because it runs as a service so I do not need to be logged into the server.

I set the root directory of the TFTP server to D:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager.

This seems to work.

Does anyone have access to the "Whitehorn" TFTP server? It's referenced on this site, but all links seem outdated. Also cannot find on the Internet in general. It was recommended as a good TFTP server. I used Pumpkin in it's place, with no problems so far...

Microsoft includes one for free with Windows 2000/2003 server, but they didn't bother to document it anywhere. There are instructions for installing and using it here:

I'm using it for my IP phones and it works fine.
