just bought "Lucoms Daewoo L750DM Black with Pivot DVI, VGA". supplied with vga cable, works ok as vga (analogue).

also bought "2m DVI-D to DVI-D Monitor Cable (for TFT Monitors) Premium Signal Quality".

monitor manual says connect both vga and dvi cables, if i do this prior to windows xp logon page the monitor displays no signal (pc boot display ok).

if i use dvi-d cable only, monitor will display only an error of video cable missing i.e. prior even to pc boot welcome.

general advice please as to (a) cabling and (b)specific advise re windows xp?

nb my video card is an ati x300se, if that makes any difference?

have managed to get it to work,
(a) plug in vga and plug in dvi-m cable,
(b) in my ati settings remove alternate settings and reduced dvi frequency (windows apparently can be fussy)
(c) ensure good cable connection.
apart from monitor saying its digital have not found
any utility that confirms xp is operating as dvi,
will pursue.
