We are running Symposium 4.2 (SU13) in multiple sites with various switch types (i.e., 11/51/61C/81C).

Whenever we try to shutdown the Symposium application (to load Microsoft patches, as an example) TFA_Service and OAM_Service will always timeout and not shutdown.

We have found this issue limited to SU13, as the sites we still have on SU12 do not have this problem.

Does anyone else have this same problem, know of a workaround or solution?

Apply SU14 or just manually shut down the services

We're trying to get SU14 into the lab to test.

Cannot manually shutdown these two services on SU13. They timeout and do not respond to any further actions until the server is rebooted.

when installing SU14s, make sure you add GO12s after that...

OK, if you're stuck in a situation where you can't shut down those services normally, try this:

Go to Start - Run. Type in serman man and hit Enter. It will say "services set successfully" -- do this after you've tried to do a normal Symposium Shutdown and shut down as much as possible. Then reboot.

When the server restarts, it will not try to start up any services. Apply whatever hotfixes you need plus SU14. Before the final reboot, go back to Start - Run. Type in serman auto and hit Enter. Now reboot.

Server will start services on reboot.
